Why I Do This

I was lucky enough to be a teenager through the eighties and I was mad on music, big hair, bad make-up and all that went with being a teenager of the times. All these years later I still have the big hair but now it is "touched" with grey and the bad make-up is gone but the tunes still play loudly in my head and even louder if they grace my radio, tv or mp3player. I will gladly admit to being a"mainstream" fan for the most part but I do have the odd liking for some of the less "played to death" bands of the time. What started all this was a drawer full of slowly decaying cassettes and a fear of losing the music that is on them. So I began to recreate them onto CD and I am loving it and finding some fantastic albums along the way.

I would like to re-dedicate this site to my late husband, he lost his long battle with cancer in 2011, he was a huge 80's fan, possibly even more so than myself. So for you my love.

Hi Meggsy, great blog you have here
and another music blogger from Brisbane.
It maybe that I haven't had much sleep in the last 6 days over easter, or that I haven't been
online for 6 days and I've forgotten how to use the net,
but where do i download this little gem from.

Hi Bob, I haven't up'd this one. Alas I can't find the tracks with the ******. It was a pathetic plea for help from all you guys out there to help me finish it off.

If anyone can help I'd be so grateful.

Thank you so much! I had this cassette when I was in high school and somehow it got lost in a move. I'm so happy to have it back with all the songs!

Wow, I used to think that Cold Fever 12" was the greatest thing ever when I was 15.

Another lost track from the OOMOOS years is the b-side to King of Kings, "Down in the Garden", sung by Sean. The last line of the following really cracked me up:

"Jesus wept, with disappointment and fear, way down in the garden of Gethsemane. People were watching the blood on his face, this guy is from some superhuman race. Believe me darling, I know how he felt, cos I've been crucified twice myself"

Thanks Meggsy
I've never heard these B-sides. Harks back to when it was the tapes that had the amazing bonus tracks as they fought it out with the new CD format. Like The The's Soul Mining which has 6 (count 'em) amazing b-sides.

I would give anything to get a copy of The Models cover of James Taylor's/Elvis Presley's "Steamroller Blues" as back in the 80's, I was a cassette owner of this tape & kept on thinking all this time, until I stumbled upon your blog, that I was dealing with a false memory of The Models having covered this. But your site totally explains why I was having such an impossible time of it trying to track down this song on YouTube. I have been checking on YouTube on & off for years now (even since I got my first desktop computer back in 2003, all the way up 'til now) to find Steamroller Blues by The Models posted somewhere on YouTube if I just went deep enough but with ZERO success. It's like "the one that got away" so to speak. Is there anyway one could obtain an mp3 of Steamroller Blues from you via private email or via Dropbox? If so, I would be eternally grateful to have this song again, for I like the way The Models cover it even better than how Elvis or James did it.

p.s. It never once occurred to me, until I happened upon your blog, that what was on cassette wasn't on CD. I can plainly see now why I was feeling so CHALLENGED with regard to this song!

Hello,
I am looking for the Models studio version of Blue Moon. I really miss that song, and no other version truly compares. If someone would send me an mp3 of it, id be really grateful. Thanks!
