The first thing that attracted me to this album back when it was released (I was 12 years old at the time) was the cover showing the record labels involved.. this is honestly where I first became interested in record labels.
Thanks so much for sharing this!
i always liked this album, co's it had an usual mix of songs compared to other compilations at the time.
- how could we ever forget that classic tune by 'Monty Video & The Cassettes' or 'The Clapping Song' for starters !
i often play these tunes every week ...and worse ! :)
Is there a new download for this link? This one doesn't seem to work. Love this site!deg
the link : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X1OPSB7K
only contains side one of The Hot Ones.. Would be great to get the rest! And i LOVE this blog, i LOVE our old 80s compilations and im enjoying them all over again. Might share some of mine too at some stage. M
I absolutely love your site Meg and would really love to be able to have this link reinstated. Would love to be able to hear the album again.
Keep them coming please. :)
I liked this album better than The Breakers '83, as this one contained The Divinyls, Madness, Chris de Burgh, Captain Sensible, Billy Idol, The Boys Town Gang, and Kajagoogoo (Limahl the lead singer would release another song a year or so later on his own - The Never Ending Story).
Monte Video - Shoop Shoop... - what a silly song! I liked that one too. This was around the same time Michael Jackson's Thriller album was big.
wow - you have saved me the effort - you are LEGEND. i have been working out how to grab all the songs from 5 different 80's comps, this being one, and you have this one altogether for me. wow - so great - so many thanks!!! you make working in the workshop so much better now i have bad music again!
